The flat faces forward in the closed position. The rear end of the guide rod rests on the takedown lever (or pin). This requires the guide rod to protrude at the muzzle by about 3/16" or the difference between flat up and flat forward. If the guide rod is stuck at the muzzle the slide will stop about where your pic shows.I have many Sig pistols. I have a pretty diverse collection of pistols including a P365 and P365XL with the Wilson Combat grip module. I am considering picking up an X Macro but, looking at it compared to the XL I'm wondering if there is much point to having both the XL and the macro, especially since I have the little P365 for times when deeper concealment is called for.

Right out of the box I tested the trigger reset and noticed the slide will not rack while I have the trigger held. Once you get them fully loaded, leave them like that until your next range trip. Even now, keep them loaded with as many as you can get in there. It will help a lot and it will get easier through use. By the way, the big mags hold 15rds, not 14.The down side is they are small parts but the upside is any 365 can be converted. The P365 platform is very versatile. As a note the parts are also relatively inexpensive if you shop around. Waiting for one with a safety included may be a while and will likely cost far more.To use the Armory Craft weight kit (3 tungsten rods), one must purchase a Wilson Combat P365XL grip module. The WC GC has 3 cylindrical holes but Sig's GC does not. That product does not answer the question of the OP.
